There is a high standard of living, in fact, the average lifespan is 78, two years higher than in the U.S! Costa Rica has a terrific, tropical and semi-tropical climate whether you like the mountains or the beach, or somewhere in between. Good business opportunities still exist and the government makes it easy to open a business! There are still ground-floor real estate investment opportunities. “Ticos” really like “gringos!” There is very high quality and inexpensive medical care. There are many more reasons!
According to the New Economics Foundation´s Happy Lives Index, which measures the environmental efficiency with which countries provide long and happy lives, Central America is the region with the highest average score and Costa Rica ranks #5 in the world!
Back in the U.S., “baby boomers” are now retiring in droves and the U.S. Department of Labor estimates that over 78 million people are retiring now or will retire in the next 10-20 years. Many have saved enough money for retirement but many more have not. With upward spiralling costs, particularly in housing and healthcare, an overseas retirement is a growing alternative for many Americans.
